Wednesday 28th September 2022 - Thursday 29th September 2022

Registration is required for catering purposes: please register using this link, and NOT using the "Register for this symposium" button above. Registration is open until Monday 26th September, but early registration is encouraged to help with organisation of the symposium.

The SMSTC Opening Symposium for 2022-23 was held on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th September 2022 at ICMS, Edinburgh. Directions to ICMS are available here.

All new PhD students in the mathematical sciences at SMSTC member institutions are encouraged to attend. There will be oportunities to hear about SMSTC modules on offer this year, hear presentations about aspects of life as a PhD student, and meet fellow PhD students from across Scotland.

Attendance will be possible either in-person or online via Zoom. We encourage attendance in person where this is possible, so that you can make the most of the social aspects of the programme.

There will be a charge for students attending this event. You should ask your department if they will cover the cost before registering. You should also confirm with your department that they will reimburse your travel costs.

Accommodation will be reserved for the night of Wednesday 28th September only, for any participant that requires it. You will be asked if you require accommodation when you complete the registration form. Details of the accommodation provided will be emailed to any participant that requires it nearer to the event.
