2023-24: Research Skills Day

Thursday 4th April 2024

The SMSTC Research Skills Day is a hybrid meeting, with attendance possible either in person (preferred) at the University of Strathclyde or remotely via zoom. To get the most out of the event, we encourage attendance in person where possible.

This event is aimed primarily at first-year PhD students in the mathematical sciences, but PhD students at any stage are welcome to attend.

Topics to be covered include unexpected connections in research; finding information; research culture; successful research collabrorations; writing mathematics; paper submission and peer review; giving a mathematical talk; and public engagement & outreach.

This event is free, but we are unable to cover travel expenses for participants. Students should talk to their local postgraduate coordinator about how to claim back these expenses.

We are grateful to the Glasgow Mathematical Journal Trust for financial support for this event.

Location

Registration in advance is essential for all attendees due to the limited number of places and to ensure sufficient catering is available.

Location: LT908, Livingstone Tower, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow
