2022-23: Supporting Postgraduates Who Teach Mathematics and Statistics

Friday 10th February 2023

This is a free one-day workshop for postgraduate students who teach mathematics and statistics. It will take place on Friday 10th February at the ARC building, University of Glasgow. For directions to the ARC building, click here (or here for a link to Google maps).

Please note that although the workshop is free, we are unable to cover travel costs for participants. Those travelling from outside Glasgow to attend should talk to their local postgraduate coordinator about these expenses.

The workshop will cover issues such as planning and preparing for teaching, facilitating problem solving classes, encouraging participation and providing support, and assessing student work and providing feedback. One of the sessions will allow participants to discuss any issues, challenges or concerns they may have in relation to their teaching duties, and to allow an opportunity for them to seek solutions both from fellow delegates and the session facilitator, who is an experienced higher education teacher of mathematics.

The workshop will run as an in-person only event, facilitated by Prof Michael Grove (University of Birmingham).

We are grateful to the Glasgow Mathematical Journal Trust for financial support of this workshop.

Registration in advance is essential for all attendees due to the limited number of places in the workshop and to ensure sufficient catering is available. Please register by 1pm on Friday 27th January at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/SMSTCsupporting2023/

(and not using the automatically generated 'register for this symposium' button above).
