Description
Nonlinear elasticity is the central model of solid mechanics and gives rise to deep mathematical questions. The course will cover the origins of the theory (assuming no prior knowledge), the existence and properties of equilibrium solutions, important open questions (such as the regularity of solutions), and describe applications to different materials including the development of new alloys.
