Module Overview: Continuum Mechanics

An introduction to a range of important topics in applied mathematics is taught in semester 1

• Continuum Mechanics (4 lectures by Debasish Das) tensors, kinematics; balance laws and governing equations; constitutive laws

• Fluids (5 lectures by Alexander Houston) Newtonian fluid dynamics; non-Newtonian fluids.

Assessment

The module will be assessed by two assignments. The first will be due for submission on 22nd November 2024 and the second on 10th January 2025.
