Description
Algebraic statistics is concerned with the use of techniques from commutative algebra and algebraic geometry to advance statistics. We assume you are familiar with basic linear
algebra, the notion of an ideal and polynomial ring and simple notions of probability distributions, as taught in compulsory Probability & Statistics undergraduate courses. In this module we are concerned with three topics in algebraic statistics Markov bases, Phylogenetic tree models and Singular Learning models, which will span 10 weeks.
